Multiple acute erosions of the antrum.
Grossly, most erosions and acute ulcers appear as well-defined hemorrhagic lesions 1 to 2 mm in diameter. If the insult is severe, the mucosa between the lesions is intensely hemorrhagic. Microscopically, an erosion demonstrates necrosis to the level of the muscularis mucosa.
