Adenocarcinoma of the Sigmoid Colon
A 56-year-old female had a history of abdominal pain and diarrhea since three months. On physical examination, the abdomen was quite distended. An abdominal ultrasound was immediately performed. An abdominal mass of the sigmoid colon was found. On the following day a colonoscopy was performed finding this mass.

Probably this carcinoma degenerated from a colonic polyp. The polyp-Carcinoma Sequence.
Carcinoma of the splenic flexure represent 2% to 5% of all colorectal carcinomas and has been associated with a worse overrall prognosis.

Rectal Adenocarcinoma.
A 51 year-old male, with rectal bleeding. The tumor was misdiagnosed as intestinal amebiasis without a previous colonoscopy. The patient received several treatments from a general practitioner.
In our latitudes, amebiasis is a common cause of gastrointestinal symptoms, however, repeated treatment for amebiasis without digital recta examination and a full colonoscopy in patients over forty years, can lead to a misdiagnosed cancer.

accompanied by his daughter who is a Pediatrician.
He had diarrhea for three months, we found rectal
adenocarcinoma at the second rectal valve that
infiltrated the third valve. He also had a rectal malign
node above the pectine line.

Metachcronous Carcinoma
Carcinoma of the transverse colon, proximal to the
splecnic angle.
A 69 year-old male who had colon surgery thirteen years
ago (Right Hemicolectomy for an adenocarcinoma of the
cecum).
He had no medical control after his surgery. He also had
anemia.
He arrived to our clinic for the first time prepared for
colonoscopy by his daughter who is a nurse.
(three years ago, she had surgery for colon cancer).
The incidence of metachcronous carcinoma is 2% to
4%. Periodic examination of the large bowel with
colonoscopy every 1 to 3 years provides the most
accurate results.

A 31 year-old man, he presented anemia of Hb. 9.2 mg./dl. and weight loss. His father died of colon carcinoma at the age of 33. The referring physician send to us for evaluation with a colonoscopy to confirm the diagnosis with a previous Enema Rx. His father had died of colon cancer. The image and the video clip show colon adenocarcinoma of the ascending colon and rest of barium.

There are Neoplastic glandular proliferation with
hypercromasia and enlarged nuclei.
